1. Make it a Destination Wedding

Get away from the city (or suburbs) and enjoy some time in the mountains.  There are so many activities available in North Georgia year round.

Spring and Fall (the most popular seasons for North Georgia weddings) have a lot of options for fairs and festivals throughout Canton, Jasper, Ellijay and Blue Ridge.

Guests can go hiking or fishing throughout Jasper and Ellijay.

If hiking boots aren’t your thing, visit one of the many vineyards and breweries located throughout Ellijay and Blue Ridge.

2. Affordable wedding option just an hour north of Atlanta

Getting out of the city not only gives you a break from traffic and the busy life (which is a huge benefit), but it also gives you more affordable options.

Certain services (especially catering) just cost more in the city.  Average catering in Atlanta is $85/per person.

The catering companies we partner with offer options in the $40 – $55 range which can save you thousands!

Parking in the city almost always comes with a cost.  And it may be a few blocks away from the venue.  Choosing a North Georgia wedding venue typically provides free parking, and often it’s onsite.  Pleasant Union Farm offers all on-site parking that is easily accessible to the venue.

Accommodations for your guests are also more affordable.  Plus you have more options.  Guests can choose from several hotels or choose a mountain house or cabin to spend the weekend.

3. Natural Beauty for your big day at our North Georgia wedding venue

It is hard to beat the beauty of a North Georgia wedding venue for your big day!  It starts with the drive to your venue.  One of our Fall brides joked that we had planted the cosmos along the highways just for them on the drive up.  (I wish I had that kind of influence!)  There are Spring and Fall wildflowers planted along 575 as you drive north from Atlanta and they do brighten up the drive.

Additionally, you get views to the Blue Ridge mountains in the backdrop as you head north.  The large pastures filled with cattle (or deer) are a great way to take a deep breath and enjoy the drive.  Enjoy changing leaves in the Fall or the beginning blooms in Spring.  It sets the mood for you and your guests as they travel to the venue.

Once you arrive at our barn venue, the views continue!  The winding gravel drive offers views of rolling hills with lush greenery, blueberry fields and peeks into the seasonal gardens at our working farm.

These same hills provide gorgeous backdrops for photos as newlyweds or with your bridal party.

The gravel drive leads you away from busy streets (and busy city life) and allows you to slow down and enjoy the moments of your special day.  The space is yours to enjoy for the day with no interruptions from neighboring businesses, traffic or any of the other stressors of life.

“I have always loved the rustic barn with it’s gorgeous views of the farm’s blueberry hills (yes, rolling hills) and surrounding woods” Jodie

4. Outdoor Space and Ceremony Site

The indoor barn venue offers large sliding barn doors to easily connect to the outdoor space surrounding the venue.

Enjoy the large covered porch for cocktail hour or dancing.  Your guests will love chatting and relaxing on the porch with views to the blueberry fields, forests and sunset.

The fire pit is located just off the lawn with easy access and views to all of the festivities.  Guests can enjoy s’mores, cigars or just hang out by the fire.  The cut flower garden is just next to the fire pit and gives guests space to wander and enjoy the seasonal flowers on display.

Enjoy outdoor games on the front lawn during cocktail hour.  This is a great way to keep your guests engaged and entertained while you finish photos.

The back lawn offers multiple locations for your ceremony site.

You can choose to set up facing the barn doors – these are gorgeous decked in greenery garlands.

The courtyard space behind the barn is a favorite for the ceremony site.  It allows the bride’s grand entrance through the barn doors and a beautiful forest backdrop.

You can also choose to set up on the lawn facing to the southwest.  This provides views of the blueberry rows in the background and the fading light as the sun moves toward sunset.

Any option is gorgeous and allows you to customize your wedding day.

5. North Georgia wedding venue with breathtaking Views for your dream wedding

Every angle of the farm wedding venue offers breathtaking views only found in North Georgia!

The most iconic view at Pleasant Union Farm is newlywed photos at the top of the hill with the forest and blueberry rows in the background.  Add in a gorgeous sunset, and the view can’t be beat!

We love when photographers explore other spots around the venue for unique backdrops.

  • Different angles in the pasture with the woods and a peep of the blueberry fields
  • Tractor paths leading back into the woods
  • Blooming shrubs located throughout the gardens

The large covered porch is a perfect built-in option for a rainy day.  Your ceremony can be set on the porch with the natural backdrops at any angle.  You still get the benefits of natural beauty while protected from the elements.

Even better, the ceremony space is separate from dinner reception which makes everything easy on the guests.  The porch can be converted to the cocktail space within 15 minutes (most guests are still chatting and don’t even notice the change!)

The large modern glass doors allow guests to enjoy the views outside while seated in the barn venue for dinner.  String lights in the barn and on the porch enhance the natural views.

Bonus tip: These modern glass doors are a gorgeous backdrop for dress or detail photos!

6. Venue spaces with modern amenities

The barn venue at Pleasant Union Farm was specifically designed to host weddings.  That means:

  •  Large open spaces for dinner and dancing where everyone can easily interact
  • Flexibility for reception setup
  • Easy access to the ceremony, cocktail reception and getting ready areas
  • Easy flow from indoor, porch and garden spaces

The venue spaces are centered around the main barn reception space.  From here, you and your guests have access to the ceremony lawn, fire pit, cocktail porch, parking, and getting ready spaces.

One of our favorite features is the bridal suite connects directly to the reception space making it an easy transition from bridal suite to waiting in the reception space for your big reveal to the ceremony.  And, if it does rain, you have a dry path to the covered porch – no worrying about umbrellas or keeping your dress dry.

The large barn doors slide open to create 12 foot wide openings that easily connect the indoor and outdoor spaces.  Guests can easily flow between reception tables, dancing, hanging out at the fire pit or strolling on the lawn.

Family and your closest friends can easily view the full venue from any space they are in.

Wedding guests hanging out at the fire pit can see and hear the dancing and announcements at the barn.

Hang out on the covered porch with easy access to grab a piece of wedding cake inside the barn or walk out to the top of the hill to enjoy the sunset.

Take a break and sit at the tables in the barn with easy views of the groups dancing on the porch.

One of our favorite views is from the fire pit.  You can look up at the lawn, covered porch and open barn to see all of the guests enjoying themselves throughout the evening under the glowing string lights.

Your photographer can access multiple backdrops for your photos all within an easy walk from the main barn.  No mini-hikes required for a variety of jaw dropping pics!

7. Bridal Suite for the Wedding Party

Onsite getting ready spaces for both the bride and groom are available.  Plus, we give you 12 hours of access on your wedding day which means you can actually use the spaces to get ready onsite.  This reduces so much stress running from one space to the next on wedding day!

The bright and airy bridal suite is perfect for bridal portraits!  The space offers lounge seating, a table for snacks, mini fridge, getting ready space and a private bathroom.

Bring snacks to get you through the day.  We recommend easy to eat snacks like apples, grapes, pretzels, cheese cubes, granola bars, etc.

Stock the mini fridge with water bottles and your favorite drinks.

Start the day with your favorite coffee, bring in lunch for your bridal party and have a comfortable space to store all your day of essentials.

Ask a bridesmaid to create a Getting Ready playlist for the day with some of your favorite songs and great hang out songs.

The groom and groomsmen have a comfortable hang out space just for them.  Plenty of seating, table for snacks, mini fridge, space to hang shirts or jackets and a TV for your favorite Netflix or ESPN account shows.

Both getting ready spaces are onsite and have easy access to the ceremony site.

9. Hosting your wedding at a working farm offers unique options

So, what exactly is the benefit to choosing a working farm for your wedding day?

Well, if it’s a farm specializing in blueberries and cut flowers – there are LOTS of benefits!

During the Summer, we offer blueberry u-pick events where brides can come pick blueberries for their wedding – or just come back to visit your wedding venue space after you’re married!

Our blueberries are used in many ways for unique wedding offerings.

Blueberry lemonade is a hit for all ages.  This is created with our farm grown blueberries and is available year round.  Serve it along with your non alcoholic drinks or serve it from the bar with a splash of something extra.

You can also use the homemade blueberry syrup in specialty cocktails.  Blueberry Bellini, blueberry moscow mule, and so many more!

The Farm-to-Table wedding package often features our fresh produce in the menu.  Freshly grown heirloom tomatoes, sweet corn, green beans and so much more!

One of our bride’s favorite options is using flowers from our cut flower gardens in their bouquets.  We grow seasonal flowers that are often not available through wholesale providers.

Spring flowers include peonies, daffodils, snapdragons and more.

Fall flowers include dahlias (sigh), heirloom mums, zinnias, sunflowers and tons of other options.

Another big benefit of getting married on a flower farm is the gorgeous backdrop for photos!  A large cut flower garden is located just behind the venue.  This is a gorgeous spot for first looks and other photos.

Your guests can stroll through the garden during cocktail hour and enjoy the views.

Ok, that’s it.

The top 9 benefits of choosing a North Georgia Wedding Venue.  There are so many more we could dive into, but there’s just not the time to cover everything!
