A summer evening on the square, a single musician playing in the gazebo, couples strolling the streets and families playing games on the square.
Is it a scene from Gilmore Girls?
Nope, this describes a recent summer evening we spent in downtown Canton, Ga. The string lights in the trees lining the streets were just starting to come on and it was a real-life Gilmore Girls moment.
Absolutely perfect!
One of the many Perks of our Canton, Ga Wedding Venue

Downtown
Downtown Canton is filled with historic buildings full of local restaurants, stores and businesses. You can park and walk to your choice of restaurant, and then enjoy a stroll around the square after your meal.
Some of our Favorite Local Restaurants
Queenies – great southern fare featuring seasonal veggies and delicious cocktails. We first met the chef when he was a farmer at the Canton Farmer’s Market. Now, anytime Cale and I visit for dinner, we spend several minutes talking farming with him. Queenies is one of the local restaurants we provide seasonal tomatoes, okra and sweet peppers to. I highly recommend a slice of the Chocolate Mousse Pie (even if you have to get it to go)
- Goin’ Coastal – delicious and fresh seafood. They have large chalkboards throughout the restaurant letting you know what was flown in fresh that day. The starter salad is great and the mini cornbread muffins are addictive! The executive chef often stops by our booth at the Farmer’s Market to pickup fresh produce for special dinners. I love how he always explains how he will prepare them.
- Salty Mule – another seafood restaurant getting daily fresh seafood. The restaurant has a beachy vibe complete with large windows open to the breeze on nice days. They specialize in over the top bloody mary’s and oysters. Their bacon creamed corn is a side dish not to be missed!
- Bizarre Coffee – one of my favorite coffee spots by far! They are locally owned with locations in Canton and Woodstock. They have seasonal menus that change throughout the year.
Personal summer favorite – Princess Peach iced latte. Personal fall favorite – Pumpkin Honey Butter Latte.
They also make specialty stickers that are great for laptops and showing your support for small businesses!
For any American who had the great and priceless privilege of being raised in a small town, there remain always with him nostalgic memories of those days.
